Psalms for the Summer - The Psalms run the gamut of human emotions, from profound praise and joy, to unspeakable anger, despair, and doubt. In the Psalms more than any other book:

  • the heartthrob of the believer is felt;
  • the exalted expressions of God’s greatness and bitter groans of the human condition are heard; and
  • both the deepest connection with God and the furthest distance from God is expressed.

There is something here for every mood. The psalms are a most helpful resource for conversation with God about things that matter most. The series will use the phases or seasons of life below to give a framework to help us understand the poetry of the Psalms:

Psalms of Orientation (God’s creation and word)

Psalms of Disorientation (Laments)

Psalms of Reorientation (Surprise and rejoicing in the fresh infusion of God and His grace into life)

  • June 27 – Psalm 30
  • July 25 – Psalm 138
  • August 1 –  Psalm 40
